INFJ💞INTP
INFJ (Ni-Fe-Ti-Se) + INTP (Ti-Ne-Si-Fe)
Potential for Conflict
Ni v. Ne: INFJs look for deeper meaning through finding a unified truth whereas INTPs like to explore a wider variety of ideas and possibilities. Thus, INFJs might view INTPs as unfocused or misguided, and INTPs might see INFJs as narrow or uncreative.
Fe: INFJs understand other people well but have a tendency to overanalyze relationships. INTPs have difficulty reading people and navigating relationships. This might lead to frequent misunderstandings in terms of misinterpreting intentions, motivations, or expectations.
Ti: Both types are analytical. INFJs are usually more focused on social values and can use Ti defensively to rationalize their problematic behavior. INTPs tend to have a more detached/critical view of the world. So, INFJs might view INTPs as too aloof or distant, and INTPs might view INFJs as oversensitive or stubborn.
Se v. Si: Both types are often out of touch with the physical aspect of life, sometimes overlooking important facts or details that might interfere with their worldview. INFJs tend to prefer more structure and organization than INTPs who have difficulty with maintaining consistency in routine, which might lead to friction if living in close quarters. INTPs can use Si defensively to obsess about the past or insignificant details, which might strike INFJs as stubborn or misguided.
Both types are introverted and tend to withdraw easily during conflicts which might create too much distance over time.
Opportunities for Growth and Balance
These two can get along well if they focus on what they have in common, which is a love of intellectual exploration. INFJs could learn from INTPs to approach problems and criticism more analytically, and be more open/adaptable to new ideas. INTPs could learn from INFJs to be more caring and considerate, and following through with ideas (better focus). So be more open to each other’s advice.
In terms of conflict, INTPs should be careful not to be too critical or use harsh language and INFJs should avoid being accusatory or judgmental and maintain realistic expectations. Learn to work through conflicts calmly before emotions get too overwhelming and cause both parties to withdraw. Frame criticism in terms of potential/improvement rather than personal attacks.
INFJs are generally more structured and expect a certain level of consistency in others, so INTPs should not interfere with their order and try to fulfill promises and responsibilities in a timely manner. INFJs should try to be more spontaneous and let loose once in awhile. Both should be mindful of maintaining the right E/I balance in terms of taking enough time for both reflection and socializing.
