Relationship Analysis
INFJ (Ni-Fe-Ti-Se) + ENFP (Ne-Fi-Te-Si)
Potential for Conflict
Ni v. Ne: Both are abstract thinkers and future-oriented but INFJs are more focused on finding a unified truth whereas ENFPs are interested in a wide range of possibilities. Thus, INFJs might view ENFPs as unfocused or unreliable, and ENFPs might see INFJs as limited or uptight.
Fe v. Fi: INFJs are focused on maintaining interpersonal harmony, sometimes at the expense of their own needs, whereas ENFPs tend to strike a better balance between inner and outer demands. Thus, INFJs might misjudge ENFPs as being too self-oriented and ENFPs might misjudge INFJs as oversensitive or prone to martyrdom.
Ti v. Te: INFJs like to take time to figure things out in a more global way but can use Ti defensively to rationalize, which might strike ENFPs as slow or stubborn. ENFPs like to make things happen but can use Te defensively to be too assertive, which might strike INFJs as a bit overwhelming or overbearing.
Se v. Si: Both types are prone to ignoring the physical or material aspect of life, often overlooking important details that do not fit with their conception of the world. INFJs have trouble with living in the moment which might strike ENFPs as boring. ENFPs sometimes do not have the patience to reflect on their own needs/priorities in a meaningful way, which might strike INFJs as a bit superficial.
ENFPs tend to be more outgoing than INFJs. But ENFPs can appear more introverted when they are in a contemplative phase and INFJs can appear more extraverted when they are focused on others, so E/I might not be a big source of conflict.
Compared to INFJs, ENFPs can have more difficulty maintaining structure and being organized.
Opportunities for Growth and Balance
This pair could work well together if they concentrate on what they have in common, which is a focus on helping people reach their full potential. In terms of complementing each other, INFJs can learn from ENFPs to think more creatively and be more laid-back. ENFPs can learn from INFJs to be more focused and organized.
INFJs should realize that ENFPs usually understand others through understanding themselves first, so do not judge them as self-absorbed. ENFPs should understand that INFJs are more sensitive to the values of others and often feel conflicted about that, so do not judge them as oversensitive. Give each other space to work out problems separately if necessary. Do not push each other too hard in directions that the other is uncomfortable with. Take more interest in each other’s passions.
Both need to approach life more objectively and try to work out problems more critically. Both need to learn how to express their needs calmly and handle criticism better. Both need to pay more attention to objective details when thinking, deciding, planning, acting.
In terms of conflict, make sure to learn how to handle your emotions better so that you can solve relationship problems more effectively, without lingering resentments or regrets.
Come to an acceptable compromise in terms of maintaining good E/I balance in shared activities. Do some community, charity, volunteer, or activism work together to pursue your values in the community and feel a sense of bonding through teamwork. Do some physical activities together in order to better appreciate material life.
