ENTP💞ESTJ
ENTP (Ne-Ti-Fe-Si) + ESTJ (Te-Si-Ne-Fi)
Potential for Conflict
Ne: ENTPs see the world through abstractions and like to explore ideas and possibilities, whereas ESTJs can be resistant to ideas or actions that are unknown or too far removed from immediate concrete experience. Thus, ENTPs might see ESTJs as boring, stubborn, or uncreative, and ESTJs might see ENTPs as unfocused, unreliable, or impractical.
Ti v. Te: Both types are analytical. ENTPs like to analyze ideas for the sake of furthering their own understanding, whereas ESTJs tend to be more assertive in enforcing their own analytical standards. Thus, ENTPs might see ESTJs as overbearing or controlling, and ESTJs might view ENTPs as unproductive or detached from reality.
Fe v. Fi: ENTPs can have difficulty with accommodating others and being considerate in relationships. ESTJs tend to see people in overly simplistic terms and treat relationship problems in a black or white fashion. So, ENTPs might see ESTJs as too hasty, repressed, or judgmental, and ESTJs might view ENTPs as inconsiderate or callous.
Si: ENTPs can have difficulty with being reflective especially about past events and often struggle with detail-oriented planning or action. ESTJs tend to be sticklers for detail and prefer established methods for approaching problems. Thus, ENTPs might see ESTJs as nitpicky, rigid, or inflexible, and ESTJs might view ENTPs as careless, unreflective, or poor decision-makers.
Being extraverted, both might not take enough time for personal rest and reflection.
Opportunities for Growth and Balance
This pair could get along well if they learn to use their strengths in a complementary way and become more understanding of the other’s point of view. ENTPs can learn from ESTJs to be more realistic and practical in forming and implementing plans. ESTJs can learn from ENTPs to expand their intellectual or experiential horizons as well as be more flexible and in touch with the present moment.
ENTPs should understand that ESTJs are practical people at heart. Do not expect that they can meet all of your intellectual needs. Do not push them too hard to move out of their comfort zones. When you need to discuss something with them, be sure to frame your ideas logically and make it clear that you understand and are prepared to accept responsibility for any consequences.
ESTJs should understand that ENTPs are conceptual thinkers who are oriented towards potentialities. Therefore, do not misjudge them as impractical or out of touch. Be more amenable to hearing them out and even complement their thought process by helping them focus on more detailed or practical issues in a supportive rather than critical way. Avoid trying to reign in their thought process too much, and do not nitpick their behaviors or stifle their natural inclination for adventurousness/autonomy.
ENTPs should understand that ESTJs have a strong preference for order and predictability, so try to be more dependable and consistent in your actions/decisions; take responsibility for mistakes and take the initiative to mend fences when necessary. ESTJs should understand that ENTPs tend to be easygoing and spontaneous people, so try to be more open to exploring ideas or experiences with them.
Since both types have difficulty with being sensitive to people’s needs, it would be important for both to learn how to handle discontent or expression of negative emotion in a constructive way, rather than resorting to destructive tactics like manipulation, blame, accusation, coercion, or threat. Both types can be oversensitive to feeling incompetent, so be more willing to admit weaknesses or mistakes, and compromise with each other more often.
Find a project or activity that you can work on together where you can combine your skills in a complementary way and bond through good teamwork. Since both are extraverted, be sure to take enough time for restful and introverted activities.
